The Cousins Tours and St Vincents' Swim Series: 2008-2009
New exciting swim series for 2008/09. Just six swims including Swim For Your Life, Ripview Swim Classic, Rock2Ramp, Sorrento, Mount Martha & Cerberus.
Fantastic prizes on offer including a ski package to Japan. New - for the first time there will also be a non wetsuit category.
The Cousins Tours & Travel St Vincent's Swim Series is an ocean swim competition for the thousands of recreational swimmers who take part in individual swims over summer.
Competitors need to compete in a minimum three of the six participating swims to
be eligible for prizes that include a ski trip to Japan and other great prizes.
Prizes have been proudly donated by Cousins Tours & Travel, The White Horse
Hotel group, all the participating swims, Zoot, Rudy Project, Max's.
The top 18 competitors in each category will receive placing points and each
competitor after 18th place will receive 1 point for participation (excludes DNS
and DNF results).
The scoring system for the series gives everyone a chance to finish amongst the
top places. But to be eligible for the prizes, entrants have to complete the
minimum three (3) swims.

Automatic entry and bonus points when registering for race one "Swim For Your
Life". The individual swim events continue to be run by the relevant clubs and
their usual entry fees apply. These fees often support charities and the local
Surf Life Saving Club
The swim series is divided into the following categories for both Male and
Female.

12 to 17
18 to 29
30 to 39
40 to 49
50 to 59
60+
Non Wetsuit
You need to compete in at least three (3) of the following events to be eligible to win prizes in the Swim Series.

Each race in the Swim Series earns you points into
the overall points score for the series. You are only competing against people
in your own category.
To be eligible for category and spot prizes, competitors must complete a minimum
of 3 swims.
Points are awarded for entrants in each swim as follows from 10 points down to 1
point based on their placing in the event. (male & female in each category
awarded points)
For example 1st = 10pts, 2nd = 9.5pts, 3rd =
9pts, 4th = 8.5pts, 5th = 8pts ...down to 1 pt.
All competitors receive a minimum of 1 point for each event for participation.
Other / Bonus Points:
- Race One at Brighton (SFYL) is a double points race.
Points Qualification:
You automatically qualify for series points once you have entered one race.
Races with Different Lengths:
- When there are different race lengths at the same event - the time
differential will be averaged and thus an estimated time for the length swim
that most people swim will be used to compare to others who swim in the other
race length. A 10% time allowance will also apply for the race distance
variance.
- You can only receive points for 1 race at each of the available 6 events, if
you swim in more than 1 race on 1 day, the faster of your 2 times (after the 10%
allowance) will be used for points calculation.
- If you swim twice in 2 categories on the same day then the faster of the 2
times will be used.

Qualify
To be eligible for the prizes in the Swim Series you need to complete at least 3
events.
Important
Note;
The competitors in the Sorrento Bay Swim Junior category ( 600m) will
not be
eligible for any points
in the swim series. Juniors that wish to gain points in the series will need to
swim 1800m and will be combined with the 18-29 age category. Junior competitors
that intend to swim 1800m need to make this known to the registration officials
on the day of the event.
Results
After each swim the results are tabulated and added to the Swim Series points
score. Results will be available on this website.
